The Importance Of A Filter

Light. Set the tank top on the aquarium and put the light hood in place. Plug in the power heads, the mechanical filter, the tank heater, and the light to your GFI strip. Next, let the water in the tank stabilize for a few days. Make sure the tank heater is keeping the tank at the proper temperature for the fish you intend to keep.

The Dwarf Gourami is a bubble nest builder. Unlike most of the Gouramis, the male usually incorporates some floating plants into their nest. As well as actual whole floating plants he may also incorporate bits of plants that he has broken off and chewed. The nest is relatively large compared with the size of the fish as well as being more elaborate than that of most gouramis.

Get a Whisper Aquarium Filters. These hang on the back lip of the tank and only a tube and strainer hang into the tank. These pull water up, filter the water, and then the water spills back into the tank. I like the whisper aquarium filterss with the “bio wheel” because these accordion like wheels collect good bacteria and the water is exposed to that each time it is filtered. You will want a Whisper Aquarium Filters that can cycle your entire tank (in gallons) 3 to 5 times an hour. A little more won’t hurt, of course. For a 10-gallon tank, you want a whisper aquarium filters than can cycle 30 to 50 gallons+ an hour. These whisper aquarium filterss are rated this way.

To provide a better quality of life for your goldfish consider keeping them in a 20 gallon tank or larger and add 10 gallons to that for each additional goldfish. Don’t trust your local pet store employee to provide accurate information. Many times these are just local high school kids or college kids working for gas money. Do your own research on any fish, plant, coral or invert before you purchase them.

Naturally I made my way to Petco, and picked up the filter in the store. The price was .00 higher than the internet ‘sale’. That annoyed me, because the store should offer the same damn prices they offer online. I always am bothered by that, when stores charge more in the store. and you had to drive there!

If it does not, try using bottled drinking water or distilled water. You can make your own distilled or RO water but it’s best to experiment first to make sure water is at the root of your problem.

The remedy lies in your very kitchen. Get vinegar and water to scrub off the tank and make it squeaky clean. Avoid using an algae scrubber. It is better to use something that you can dispose off later so that the germs and grime are all tossed out in one go. If you plan to keep the old decorations, soak them in a diluted bleach solution. This will rid them off the diseases that they might be carrying.

The first thing I should point out is that Goldfish live up to 20 years or more, if well cared for and living in good conditions. The second thing I must point out is that Goldfish get up to 10 inches or more.
