How To Convert Salt Water Aquarium Into Fresh Water One

Make sure you get a heater if one doesn’t already come with your fish tank, the fully-submersible types are definitely the simplest to utilize. Look for one with a variable thermostat, given that different fish prefer different temperature ranges. An excellent rule of thumb is 3-5 watts of heat for every gallon of water.

Once you have water flowing, drain it into a bucket placed lower than you aquarium; keep an eye on how full it gets or you may have some extra cleanup to do. After removing your water, use the same bucket to replenish the aquarium.

Water changes should be performed weekly. However a small water change should be done every day, or every second day. Frequent water changes increase appetite and promote mating activity in discus. Notice that discus will often spawn after a water change!

You can use a sponge filter or a standard Whisper Aquarium Filters to keep the water clean. You can easily find good quality water filter in any aquarium shop. For best results, it is always recommended to have reserve filters in case the primary filter fails.

Water quality is vitally important, not only for the amount of water changes you will have to make, but also for the health of your turtle, to prevent diseases.

With them breeding, there are a couple of ways for you to set up. The first is to have a talk with your seller and let them know that you want to have a pair that mates. A lot of discus breeders take this option because of how simply it can be done. Taking this option could cost you though as you will be expected to pay between 0 and 0 for a mating pair. The other option is buying a group of little discus fish with the hope that they’re not of the same gender. You could do this option while you’re setting up the tank.

If it does not, try using bottled drinking water or distilled water. You can make your own distilled or RO water but it’s best to experiment first to make sure water is at the root of your problem.
