When selecting a Betta from the store, your first instinct will be to select one that has the brightest colors, but there are other factors to consider. Does the Betta appear to be in proper health? Check for any cloudiness in the eyes or on the fish’s scales. A healthy Betta should be bright in color and have perfect fins that show no signs of degeneration. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, either. Have any of the Bettas available at that particular pet shop been sick? You may also want to ask to see the Betta of your choice eat some food. A healthy Betta should readily feed; if it doesn’t, ask why, and see if any of the others will eat.

The Hagen AquaClear 70 Aquarium Whisper Aquarium Filters came with more than just a filter, inside the box there was also a foam sponge to collect matter. A packet of Ultra-grade Activated Carbon is also included. This liquefies any waste. A bag of white pellets also come included in the package to allowing the aquarium triple the filtration.

Another tip that’ll make deciding how many fish and what types (by size, in this case) you keep is this: Tropical Freshwater Fish (not goldfish, which will be covered in another article) require an “inch of fish per gallon of water”. For instance, with a 20-gallon tank, roughly 20 inches of fish should be safe. Allow for growth and, well. personal space. While 20 fish in a 20-gallon tank wouldn’t throw too much out of whack, it may still be a bit crowded.

Here’s a tip for you: algae thrives in sunshine. If you leave your aquarium in the sun for sometime every day, it will get more algae than if it were in the shade the whole of the time.

If you are establishing a new tank, you should fill the tank with water, treat it, and let it run for several days before adding fish. If you’ve never had a tank before, invest fifty cents in a few guppies or feeder fish and practice with them for a few weeks before purchasing convicts. Learn what the “cycle” is and how to maintain water chemistry before you go further.

These flower plants will help to decorate your fish tank. All you do is simply drop them into the tank and they will float right down. The plants are made of plastic and they have a ceramic weight on them, to help them float down and stay in place. These BiOrb Winter Flower Plants fit into a BiOrb of eight gallons or more, come in a two pack, and come in the following colors: green, blue and purple, and pink and red.

Taking those two things into consideration, I shall now point out that bowls, 2 gal tanks, and 5 gal tanks are inhumane and are the reason that 90% of all pet Goldfish die before they reach 3 years of ages and 5 inches in size.
